of Polymer Foils

The Challenge

Each year, about 0.5 TW of solar capacity—over 1 billion modules—is produced. Yet quality control still relies on slow, destructive lab tests, leaving >99.9% of modules unchecked. This causes hidden defects, early degradation, and high warranty costs. The industry urgently needs fast, inline, non-destructive testing to secure reliability and trust.

The Solution

Our tool measures directly in the production line and detects material and processing defects in solar module encapsulation layers in real time. It identifies the critical issue of insufficient lamination. Unlike current approaches, our solution works inline and non-destructively, ensuring 100% quality control. For the industry, this means annual savings of over €2.5 billion and a return on investment within weeks.

The Status

First measurements confirm the general concept. We are now collecting additional data and would be happy to include your samples - whether individual foils or full solar modules.

The Future Steps

The next development stage will focus on prototype realization. We invite collaboration with industry and research partners who can contribute samples, enable testing under real production conditions, or co-finance the upcoming project phase.
